<p>（法新社<a onclick="ondemand('華盛頓','1');"><span style="display: inline"><span class="vl_kw vl_vlkw">華盛頓</span><span class="vl_icon"></span></span></a>4日電）    最新科學研究顯示，<a onclick="ondemand('北極','3');"><span style="display: inline"><span class="vl_kw vl_vlkw">北極</span><span class="vl_icon"></span></span></a>海水域不穩定的永凍層釋出甲烷到大氣中的速度，比科學家過去認為得還要快。</p>
<p>阿拉斯加費班克大學（University of
Alaska-Fairbanks）研究團隊2003-2008年勘查東西伯利亞的北極冰棚，這片冰棚覆蓋北極海逾200萬平方公里的海床。領導研究的是
科學家沙克霍娃（Natalia Shakhova）與塞米勒托夫（Igor Semiletov）。</p>
<p>研究報告指出：「這項發現揭開甲烷氣體重大卻遭忽視的來源，這些氣體是由海底的永凍層釋出，不是陸地。」</p>
<p>「甲烷釋放範圍擴大，未來可能嚴重影響<a onclick="ondemand('全球暖化','0');"><span style="display: inline"><span class="vl_kw vl_vlkw">全球暖化</span><span class="vl_icon">    </span></span></a>。」</p>
<p>過去在西伯利亞的研究，關注的是由陸地永凍層釋放出的氣體。</p>
<p>科學家長期以來都以為，東西伯利亞北極冰棚下的永凍層可作為封住甲烷的不滲透屏障。甲烷這種溫室氣體，吸熱能力是二氧化碳的30倍。</p>
<p>不過，阿拉斯加研究團隊觀察到，海底永凍層出現孔洞，正釋出大量甲烷到大氣中。</p>
<p>根據這篇發表在科學雜誌（Science）的報告，該地區超過80%的深海區與過半面積的淺水區，甲烷值約為正常海水的8倍。</p>
<p><font size="3"><strong>科學家警告，即使只有一小部分積存在北極冰棚的甲烷釋放出來，都可能引發嚴重暖化。</strong></font></p>
<p>目前北極海的甲烷濃度平均為1.85ppm，是40萬年來的最高數值。東西伯利亞冰棚上的濃度更高，科學家格外關切，因為海底永凍層「已經出現不穩的跡象」。</p>

<p>【明報專訊】一對<a onclick="ondemand('北極','3');"><span style="display: inline"><span class="vl_kw vl_vlkw">北極</span></span></a>熊母子無助地緊緊相偎在挪威海峽一塊窄窄的浮冰上，浮冰離岸邊愈漂愈遠，逐漸融化縮小，兩隻北極熊生死未卜……這個牽動人心的畫面，剛好被攝影師艾里克勒弗朗（Eric Lefranc）捕捉到。有環保組織指出，這張照片再次向世人證明，全球變暖正毁掉這世界。 </p>
<p>照片是去年8月拍攝，周三刊登在多份<a onclick="ondemand('英國','1');"><span style="display: inline"><span class="vl_kw vl_vlkw">英國</span><span class="vl_icon"></span></span></a>報章上。報道指出，當時氣溫約5℃，北極熊媽媽和她9個月大寶寶，當時可能正外出捕獵海豹，中途跳上浮冰「歇腳」，但浮冰沿著挪威史瓦巴德
（Svalbard）奧嘉海峽（Olga Strait of
Svalbard）快速漂流離岸，轉眼又融化成僅數米寬，迫使兩熊擠在冰塊中間，相當無助。這一畫面，剛好被乘船經過的40歲攝影師艾里克勒弗朗拍到。</p>
<p>浮冰融化漂遠 幼熊害怕 </p>
<p>他說：「被困的母熊和幼熊看起來有點焦慮。幼熊因害怕動來動去，母熊拚命保持浮冰平衡穩定，保護受驚的幼熊。北極熊通常都很擅長游泳，但當時浮冰離最近的岸邊近20公里。與我同遊的人想要將這對母子送到最近的岸邊，但顯然沒可能。」</p>
<p>動物專家：牠們應可游回岸</p>
<p>艾氏坦言不知兩熊之後是否安然無恙。英國動物專家派克漢姆（Chris Packham）樂觀相信吉「熊」自有天相。
「北極熊有4吋厚脂肪可供保暖，大爪子可充當鰭划水，還有防水皮毛。一隻成年北極熊可以時速8至10公里，最多游80公里，所以熊媽媽要游20公里返岸應
不難。至於體力不足的幼熊，則可趴在媽媽背上。雖然可能會很累，但我相信牠們一定會沒事。」 </p>
<p>海浮冰25年減129萬平方公里</p>
<p>環保人士認為這照片反映<a onclick="ondemand('全球暖化','0');"><span style="display: inline"><span class="vl_kw vl_vlkw">全球暖化</span><span class="vl_icon"></span></span></a>嚴重，威脅北極熊存活。雖然8月天有浮冰融化並不奇怪，但環保人士指出，數十年來的科學數據顯示，海上浮冰每年春季融化的時間日益提前，入秋結冰時間又日漸推遲，故夏季海洋浮冰面積在過去25年間已減少超過129萬平方公里。</p>
<p>冰島和挪威專家最近在北極一島上，發現一塊介乎11萬至13萬年前、相信是全球最古老的北極熊顎骨化石。地球在13萬年前曾處冰河時期，專家認為這變化令棕熊，特別是那些被困在極北島嶼的，漸漸進化成北極熊適應嚴寒。</p>
